My primary focus is to normalize your struggle by explaining how common BRAIN FUNCTION may be at the root of many of your past and /or current issues. Using specialized techniques and tools during our sessions, I will assist you to become more objective and less reactive around the obstacles you face, and guide you to uncover options that may have been previously hidden.
I employ several different approaches based on each individual client’s needs. Some of the approaches I use in therapy include:
Kim has been using the tool of Voice Dialogue, Aka The Psychology of Selves and The Aware Ego Process which has its’ roots in Jungian Psychology, since 1995. Voice Dialogue is a method intended for training in self-awareness and transformation of consciousness, but equally valid as an important therapeutic tool.
Voice Dialogue is the basic method for contacting, learning about, and working with the many Selves that make up each of us. These Selves determine the way you see the world; they control your behavior and limit your choices. Due to the fact we often “identify” with certain Selves and dis-own or judge others, we are not truly operating from a place of choice. One choice is “NO” choice.
As dialogues with various Selves unfold, an “Aware Ego Process” begins to develop that is aware of the parts but is not identified solely with any of them . The process is similar to that of an orchestra conductor who has spent time getting to know and understand each of the individual instruments in his orchestra. He will likely have more success in creating a wide range of musical experiences going forward.
Developed by American psychologists, Dr. Hal Stone and Dr. Sidra Stone in the early 1970s, the work continues to evolve worldwide and has been incorporated by various consciousness teachers, psychotherapists, coaches, body-workers, as well as integrated into various spiritual practices including some Buddhist teachings. It is also compatible with many other personal growth models too numerous to mention.
Voice Dialogue and the Psychology of the Aware Ego is currently being studied by neuroscientists and is the topic of several research projects, Graduate Thesis’s and Graduate Studies. It is gradually becoming a part of psychology and psychotherapy curriculum in universities and colleges all over the world and the parts work it is based on is currently the topic of PIXAR’s movie “INSIDE OUT”. www.voicedialogue.org
INTERNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS(IFS)
Internal Family Systems, an evidence based therapy, developed by Dr Dick Schwartz some 30 years ago is changing the traditional paradigm of psychology. With the view that the personality is made up of individual parts that take on beliefs, rules and roles, Dr. Schwartz has proven that under the guidance of a trained facilitator, clients can free “Parts” that have been frozen in time to let go of outdated limiting beliefs and assume NEW roles that are more supportive and in-line with current life circumstances. ACCELERATED RESOLUTION THERAPY
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a form of psychotherapy with roots in existing evidence-based therapies but shown to achieve benefits much more rapidly (usually within 1-5 sessions). SOMATIC EXPERIENCE AND AWARENESS
Providing psycho-education that “Sub Personalities” or “energy patterns” hold tension in a different part of our physical body helps the client to become aware of blocks or limiting beliefs that are unconsciously held. Learning to recognize and correlate current physical symptoms with the unconscious internal vulnerabilities held by the different Parts or Selves allows clients to become more conscious and to take “Self Awareness” and “Self-Care” to a whole new level.I
THE INTELLIGENCE OF SELF – CCTI
The CCTI ( Cauvin –Cailloux Type Indicator ) is a 44 question assessment tool originally born from the Myers Briggs Type Indicator model. This simple yet powerful tool, employs a roadmap that allows individuals to recognize their baseline default preferences, determine behavioural preferences, AND uniquely allows one to build to the underdeveloped aspects of the personality using the tool of Voice Dialogue and the Psychology of the Selves and the Aware Ego Process.

Various brain re-patterning techniques such as E.F.T. (Emotional Freedom Technique), other cross-hemisphere patterning tools and Voice Dialogue techniques are used during client sessions and taught to counselling clients in order to assist the client to self manage/regulate presenting upsets between counselling sessions. These tools may provide clients the ability to reduce fears, phobias and traumatic memories in the moment.
Transpersonal Therapy by definition means beyond the personal. In this light transpersonal therapy holds the belief that we are a part of something much bigger than just our mind and our body.
CLIENT CENTRED THERAPY
Client-Centred Therapy holds the belief that you are your own authority and that no one knows better for you than you. It is my job as your counsellor to assist you in experiencing and developing your inner knowing and to develop the trust that you already have all the internal resources necessary to work through most any situation. As your therapist, I accompany you on your journey, with deep respect, empathy, care, and holding.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY - CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy focuses on your thoughts and your beliefs. Understanding how and why you think the way you do provides a new awareness and a freedom for you to know you have the ability to re-choose what to think in any given situation.
Breathwork sessions are not part of a standard therapy session. They are planned and scheduled independently as they require the client to lie in a prone position for roughly 75 minutes.
Breathwork is a conscious, full-body/breath technique which activates an inner non-ordinary experience. It results in the release of thoughts, pains, memories, feelings, and blocks that have been held down with the breath within the body. Utilising deep, fast breathing in combination with loud evocative music, memories, traumas, and deep emotions emerge and facilitate a release which clears and or resolves long-standing, deep-rooted issues.
